conditions - warm, sunny, dry Half time 0 v 4 Full time 3 v 6 Starting line up - Liam (goalkeeper), Mason (left defence), Matthew(centre defence), Jack (right defence), Will (centre midfield), Daniel (centre midfield), Joseph (left midfield), Arran (right midfield), Ashley (attack) Diamonds goalscorers - Curtis (34 minutes), Daniuel (35 minutes), Will (39 minutes) Man of the match - 1st - jack, 2nd - Will, 3rd - Curtis Commentary To coin the much used football phrase, this was very much a game of 2 halves - such was Ladybridge's dominance in the first 30 minutes, that it was a full 27 minutes before the home team had a meanignful shot on target via the lively Arran, who shot from the right, low and hard, it being well saved by the 'keeper. The visitors had the advantage of kicking downhill in the first half and they quickly opened their account after only 2 minutes, their number 2, Jack , picked up the ball just in the Diamonds half on their left and fired in a long range lob, giving Liam little chance, it went 2 - 0 after 9 minutes, following a goalmouth scramble. Thier number 10 always looked dangerous on the right and could have got his rewards when his thundering shot hit the post 2 minutes later. On 12 minutes the visitors went 3 up , following indecision between goalkeeper and defender. Coach Forrest made a triple substitution shortly afterwards to freshen up th eline up, off coming Ashley, Arran and Mason The Leopards got another on 22 minutes with a finely weighted lob. Joseph came off on 27 minutes, Arran coming back on again, he almost made an immediate impact, with a fine run down the right, resulting in the Diamonds first shot on target of the day. He forced a corner a couple of minutes later but nothing came of it. Following the hairdryer treatment from Coach Forrest at half time, the boys cam out with a steely resolve to win back some pride at least. Curstis had a fine shot a couple of minutes after the break, however the visitors broke immediately after, with the diamonds committing too many men up front and found themselves 5 goals behind as a result. 2 minutes later Danny firted a fine ball from the right for the arch goal poacher Curtis to be waiting and making no mistake. Danny earned a freekick 25 yards out a minute later, taking it himself he fired a long high powerful shot in to give the goalie no chance. Will fired a low drive in on 38 minutes to bring the deficit back to 2. By this time Ladybridge had abandoned their flowing, passing football, for boot it up the field as far as it will go strategy. Coach Forrest took the decision to give Mason the 'keepers jersey at half time and he showed his skills by making a fine acrobatic save on 39 minutes. Danny had a free kick go wide on 46 minutes with Curtis also uncharacteristically missing a good chance. The visitors popped in another with 4 minutes to go, to finally puit the game out of reach. Whilst the result didn't go the teams way a fine spirited performance in the second half, will raise epxectations for the forthcoming fixture against Horwich next week. Jack just won the man of the match over Will who worked tirelessly throughout the match, for his fine composure on the right of defence.
