A much improved performance from the lightening saw them move off the bottom of the league with a well earned 2-2 draw against Castle Hill. The first 5 minutes of the game saw a lot of early pressure from Castle Hill as the lightening were a little unorganised but some fine saves from keeper Matthew Lord helped keep the ball out of the net.The lightening took the league with a great strike from 20 yards from Freddie Stevens which flew into the top corner of the goal, more attacks from Luke Eden and Ryan Garner went really close until a great move from the home side saw Luke Eden finish off in style to go 2 up.Castle Hill scrambled the ball home just before half time to make it 2-1 at the break. The second half began and Castle Hill were soon level with a good individual goal but the Lightening quickly got their shape back and battled really well against some good pressure from the visitors. This was as good as the Lightening have played and the passing and understanding was really good everybody who was involved in the game played well Harry Mac had a great half and Jake Lord had a good game Matthew Lord also had his best game, James Hawken was his reliable self and Ewan Walsh did well in defence in the 2nd half,Robbie Pollitt had some good touches and could have won the game with a good effort late on that went narrowly wide Ryan Garners long throws helped the attacks and could also have scored only to be denied by the keeper but the one who stood out this week was Freddie Stevens who went on some great runs and got some good tackling in and also scored a great goal and this was enough to earn him man of the match for this week (well done Freddie!!) and well done to the Lightening. Was this down to an early night? or was it Carols Jaffa cakes ?i will let you decide!!!
